The story
MyCook, in 2024, was a first recipe book in React. Papillote starts again from scratch with a simple idea: the hard part is not reading a recipe in the kitchen, it is typing it in.
Hence an MCP server (Model Context Protocol, the protocol that connects an AI assistant to tools): send a photo of a cookbook page, the assistant fills in the recipe.
What I did
- Phone-first, installable as an app
- Typo-tolerant search, categories, variants and sub-recipes
- Add a recipe by pasting text, from a link or through the AI assistant
- Recipe export, documented backup and restore
